Despite the deeply ingrained customs of Roman Catholicism, the ways of life in many of Mexico’s surviving indigenous peoples are still influenced greatly by pre-Hispanic traditions. Varying from colorful costumes, textiles and traditional crafts, to the agricultural calendar and communalist social organization, the original traditions are still valued among the people.
