Tibetan women from the region of Zhondian, renowned for their beauty, traditionally wear a fuchsia headpiece. This family lives near the monastery of Zhondian, also called Shangrila. The girl’s silk garment is an ordinary, everyday outfit. In Buddhist fashion, her hair is braided in 108 plaits, an auspicious number.
